Same Song Different Beats
The scene slowly opens up inside of vacant bar. The chairs and setting up on the tables, and the bar counter has been recently cleaned. The Open light that sits on the window has been turned off. The lights have been dimmed, and the only person that is left in this bar is Steven Steele. He stands behind the bar in a blue buttoned shirt, black jeans, and a black Nike hat. Steele looks down on the counter where a bottle of Jack Daniels sits and next to it is a shot glassed filled to the top. Steele smiles as he looks back up.
Kevin Williams. It’s been such a very long time since I’ve seen you. Kevin you and I use to be friends. Me and you use to talk once in a while just to see how things where going for the other. Hell Kev, when we had down time we use to play games online just for the hell of it…what happened?
Kevin did something snap in that brain of yours. Did you lose it Kev? What went wrong? Where you sitting alone one night in the dark all by yourself drinking your worries away when it finally dawned on you that your wrestling career was nothing short of absolute shit? Did it finally register that you never really accomplished anything? Did the memories of losing high profile matches finally break you?
Did the thought of good ole Gabe rising to the top and becoming a world champion eat at you from time to time? Kevin when did you finally grow a set of balls? It’s something brand new to me. It caught me off guard when you cost me a chance at contending for the world title. Not only that but you have become yet another desperate individual trying to use me as a door mat to resurrect an already dead career.
Steele reaches down and takes a shot of his JD and then puts the bottle and glass away. Steele begins to walks from behind the bar and over to the record player. Steele looks at it and kicks the base of it. The lights flash up and a classic 60s song begins to play.
Kevin why must you go down that road? Why do have to be the guy that tries to beat me just to kick start your career again. Williams I always thought you were better then that. I took you as a person that would do something more mind blowing…or….something more original….yet you fell short. Just like your wrestling career. A very long list of disappointments Kevin, and the only person to blame is yourself and from what I can tell at least you are admitting that much.
In a few short days Kevin you and I will face each other one on one for the first time in nearly four years. Kevin the last time you and I locked horns in the squared circle you fell short, and nothing that outcome won’t change. Kevin, I just came off another dominant performance in another promotion filled with a bunch of Kevin’s. The ones that whine and the ones that hate winners, and the ones that can’t stop me…I am dominant plain and simple. Not many people can match my skill in that ring.
You Mr. Williams have a long road to travel before you can even start gaining ground on me. I want to show you how useless this attempt at me really is, and I will do just that. Kevin this match between us I will prove once and for all that I am better then you and then I am going to close the door of the Steele vs. Williams chapter. It’s over after this match. I will leave everything in that ring, and I can only pray that you return the favor. Kevin if you have any real intentions on beating me you better bring your very best because that is what it will take to beat me, otherwise things are going to go for you just like that have always gone for you, and then once that happens you will do what you always do…
…Fade to black.
Steele kicks the record player one last time and it shuts down. Steele walks away and yes the scene…fades to black.
